This year brought reasons to celebrate. At the latest edition of the Goya Awards, two productions with strong Canarian ties received top honours: the animated feature film Mariposas Negras<\/i><\/b>, produced by Tinglado Film<\/b> and directed by David Baute<\/b>, and the animated short film Cafun\u00e9<\/i><\/b>, produced by Dami\u00e1n Perea<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Mariposas Negras<\/i><\/b>, a traditionally animated film reflecting on the devastating consequences of climate change, premiered at Annecy<\/b>, was screened at Sitges<\/b>, and recently won the Premio Forqu\u00e9<\/b>. It was supported by the Government of the Canary Islands<\/b> and other public institutions.<\/p>\n

Cafun\u00e9<\/i><\/b>, produced by one of the most recognised figures in Canarian animation, explores the inner world of a refugee child through poetic visual storytelling.<\/p>\n

In addition to these two awards, the Canary Islands were also represented among the nominees. The animated feature SuperKlaus<\/i><\/b>, produced by 3 Doubles Producciones<\/b>, was nominated alongside Mariposas Negras<\/i><\/b> for Best Animated Film. Singer Valeria Castro<\/b> received a nomination for Best Original Song with El Borde del Mundo<\/i><\/b>, from the soundtrack of El 47<\/i><\/b>. The film Memories of a Burning Body<\/i><\/b>, nominated for Best Ibero-American Film, is represented by the Canarian sales agency Bendita Film Sales<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
