In Tokyo, a seminar held at the Embassy of Spain brought together professionals from Japan and the Canary Islands to explore new opportunities in film, animation and video games. The agenda included visits to leading Japanese companies such as Studio4\u00b0C, Adglobe and Nintendo, as well as participation in Bitsummit<\/b>, Japan\u2019s main independent video game festival in Kyoto.<\/p>\n
This growing collaboration has already produced tangible results, including The Head<\/i><\/b>,<\/b> filmed in Tenerife and produced by The Mediapro Studio with Hulu Japan and HBO Asia, and Kiriko the Mystic<\/i><\/b>, a co-development between the Canarian studio Quantum Box and Japan\u2019s Route24.<\/p>\n
The connection between both creative industries was also strengthened at the Tokyo Game Show 2025<\/b>, one of the world\u2019s most important gaming events. Eight studios from the Canary Islands, among them Drakhar Studio, Rising Pixel, MoonMana Games and Quantum Box, presented their projects and held meetings with developers, publishers and investors, reinforcing the islands\u2019 presence in the Asian market and their growing role in the global gaming scene.<\/p>\n
That same collaboration continued in the Canary Islands, where several Japanese animation and video game companies visited to learn about the islands\u2019 facilities, services and creative environment. The delegations explored Gran Canaria Plat\u00f3s<\/b> and other production centres, meeting with local professionals to discuss future projects and business opportunities. Over the course of a week, ten Japanese studios toured Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and La Palma taking part in company visits and networking sessions that offered a first-hand look at the islands\u2019 talent and production capabilities.<\/p>\n
These initiatives reflected the steady growth of cooperation between Japan and the Canary Islands, driven by shared innovation and a clear interest in developing international projects.
