Some of the most prominent film and television companies visited the Canary Islands in October<\/b> to discover the final projects developed in our annual script lab, IsLABentura Canarias<\/b>, one of the key events in the islands\u2019 audiovisual calendar. Sixteen writers presented their stories to producers during the final pitching sessions held in La Palma, followed by the awards ceremony in Los Llanos de Aridane. Among the attending companies were Movistar Plus, Mediapro, Telecinco Cinema, Mediacrest, Onza, Portocabo and El\u00e1stica Films.<\/p>\n
The lab aimed to guide writers through the creative and professional process, helping them refine their scripts and connect their projects with the industry. The selection included seven feature films, seven series and, for the first time, two animation projects inspired by different islands of the archipelago.<\/p>\n
One of the year\u2019s standout achievements was the signing of Goda<\/i><\/b>, written by Katia Klein and set in Lanzarote, which will be produced by El\u00e1stica Films, the company behind Alcarr\u00e0s<\/i> and Romer\u00eda<\/i>.<\/p>\n
This final meeting of the laboratory was held in the area of La Palma particularly affected by the volcano (Tajogaite, 2021), such as Los Llanos, Puerto Naos, Tazacorte, and included a visit to the lava flows and other areas of interest; a mulberry tree reforestation activity, which feeds silkworms and supports the island’s silk production tradition, among other events.<\/p>\n

The DAMA Best Feature Script<\/b> award went to Goda<\/i><\/b> by Katia Klein, while Frontera<\/i><\/b> by Stefi Airoldi received the DAMA Best Series <\/b>one. Tres d\u00edas de julio<\/i><\/b> by Pablo Fajardo earned a Special Mention<\/b>, and Pobres diablas<\/i><\/b> by Diego Z\u00fa\u00f1iga and Rebeca Serrada won the CIIF Market Award<\/b>. The animated feature Muri\u00f3 entre las olas<\/i><\/b> by Pablo Borges received the Music Library Award<\/b>. Ocho islas para decirte adi\u00f3s<\/i><\/b> by Pablo Santidri\u00e1n and In\u00e9s Pintor was recognised as Best Series (Movistar+)<\/b>, and La isla de los lobos<\/i><\/b> by Yaiza Berrocal won Best Feature (Movistar+)<\/b>. The Laboratorio Audiovisual Award<\/b> went to Malvas\u00eda<\/i><\/b> by Laura P\u00e9rez.<\/p>\n
Over its four editions, IsLABentura has become a reference point for script development in the Canary Islands, combining mentorship and industry access to turn ideas into real productions. Sixteen projects from previous editions have already secured production deals, four of them in the final stages of financing. This latest edition confirmed that momentum, presenting stories that balance strong creative identity with international appeal, from family dramas and historical thrillers to contemporary series and animated features rooted in the landscapes and voices of the islands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
