The Canary Islands have been present at numerous prestigious international festivals and awards, with films featured in official competition as well as in industry areas, represented by professionals and companies from the sector.<\/p>\n

Some of the events in which Canarian cinema has participated in 2026 include the Goya Awards<\/b>, the M\u00e1laga Film Festival<\/b>, and the Berlinale<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Goya Awards<\/b><\/p>\n

Among the nominated Canarian films were: Norbert<\/i><\/b><\/a>, for Best Animated Feature,<\/b> co-produced by the Tenerife-based studio 3 Doubles and the support of the Canary Islands Government (Production 2021). Todos somos Gaza<\/i><\/b><\/a>, nominated for Best Documentary Feature<\/b>, produced by the Gran Canaria-based Videoreport Canarias SL and Fuerteventura-based Doc Land Canarias. Maspalomas<\/i><\/b><\/a>, with 9 nominations, including Best Film and Best<\/b> Director,<\/b> was partly shot on the iconic beach in the south of Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1laga Film Festival<\/b><\/p>\n

The Archipelago was present at the 29th edition of the M\u00e1laga Film Festival<\/a>, both competing in official and non-competitive sections.<\/p>\n

El mapa para tocarte<\/i><\/b>, by filmmaker Mercedes Afonso from La Palma, produced by Lun\u00e1tica Producciones<\/a> won the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Cu\u00e1ntica Rave<\/i><\/b>, directed by Paco L. Campano and co-produced by the Canarian company Insularia Films, <\/a>competed In the official section. The film counts with the support of the Canary Islands Government (Minority co-production 2023).<\/p>\n

In addition, more than thirty professionals attended MAFIZ<\/b>\u2014the festival\u2019s industry area\u2014where Canary Islands Film showcased the funding tools the Islands offer for audiovisual production, as well as their creative and industrial ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Berlinale<\/b><\/p>\n

Among the 22 films nominated at the 76th edition of the Berlinale <\/a>was Rosebush Pruning<\/i><\/b>, by Brazilian director Karim A\u00efnouz; a co-production in which Spain participated through the Canarian production company Sur-Film<\/a>, internationally recognized for its experience as a service production company.<\/p>\n

Likewise, Canary Islands Film <\/b>organized a promotional event for the Islands\u2019 film and audiovisual industry, attended by almost two hundred professionals.<\/p>\n
