Sustainability

The sustainability in filming is something that we have very present in the Canary Islands. We live mainly of Tourism and over 40% of our territory is protected (we have 4 National Parks on 4 of the 8 islands, 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites, and many other areas with some degree of environmental protection).

The Tenerife Film Commission pioneered the design of a Decalogue of good practices, the training of our teams and the implementation of a green seal for filming in 2018. This year the office granted the sustainable production seal to Guy Ritchie’s feature film In the Grey.

To obtain this seal, measures were taken such as the use of refillable bottles for the equipment, 1,361 20-liter jugs of water were consumed, thus avoiding approximately 89,826 units of 33 cl bottled water. Strict control of the waste generated was carried out, hiring specialized companies for its recycling or proper destruction. And they opted for paperless production, keeping project accounting digitally to reduce the receipt of physical invoices and the use of paper in accounting. All contracts, both with the crew, the cast and the figuration, were made digitally to avoid the unnecessary use of paper.

They also donated five radio stations to the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium, which they had lost during the terrible August fire in Tenerife. An action that was carried out within its Corporate Social Responsibility policies.
