DIRECTOR’S BIOFILMOGRAPHY
Fernando Alcántara is an editor and filmmaker whose work primarily delves into the psychogeography of spaces. He has created short films such as “Caballo de mar,” which won the Amnesty International Award in the Canary Islands, and “Océano,” which received a special mention from the jury at the Las Palmas Film Festival. Both films have been selected by the Government of the Canary Islands to be part of their international distribution catalog, “Canarias en corto,” and have been featured in numerous international festivals. His editing work for Canary Islands filmmakers such as David Pantaleón, Rafael Navarro Miñón, Cayetana H. Cuyás, Domingo de Luis, among others, has been showcased at festivals like Rotterdam, Vila Do Conde, Busan, Málaga, and Visions du réel. In the field of education, he teaches narrative classes and coordinates the editing program at the Institute of Cinema in the Canary Islands. Currently, he is in the process of developing his first feature film, “El mar de lava fría.” Fernando is a founding member and active participant in the Canary Islands Filmmakers Association.
